Mid-Life Women's Group

By midlife, most women have feelings that their life is somehow misaligned. That they have done everything they were supposed to do to have a successful and meaningful life… but they feel utterly lost.   Women often feel that they are not doing enough… or not doing it right, so they scramble to do more or do it better (as a mother, colleague, wife, or friend). But the harder they work the worse it gets. Dr. Brené Brown calls this moment in our lives the “midlife unraveling”.  It is “a time when you feel a desperate pull to live the life you want to live, not the one you are supposed to live.”

In this midlife women’s group, we help you recognize what is causing these feelings and give you tools to take action to change your path and find a life of integrity.  Our goal is to empower women through education focused on topics that impact them on a daily basis and often keep them from feeling that they are worthy of love, respect, and belonging, right now… just as they are.

DETAILS:

This is a psycho educational women’s support group designed to take counseling to the next level. This peer-group environment will provide you a safe place to connect and share with like-minded women your emotions and to learn together how to cope with them. Part of each session will be an educational component where you will learn specific topics and valuable therapeutic skills to improve your daily life.

Our goal is to empower you, and women like you, through education. We want to focus on several mental health topics that impact us on a daily basis and often keep us from feeling that we are worthy of love, respect and belonging. Together, through peer support and education, we will help you develop self-awareness, self-understanding, trusting yourself, self-acceptance, emotional awareness and much more.

The courses will be led by Christy Siemons (a fully licensed counselor) and are constructed to run for 9-week periods. The cost is $450 for each 9-week session (some insurance will partially cover costs). The group will meet weekly for 1 ½ hour, alternating between sister support and interactive educational sessions. Contact Christy for more information and to sign up.

TOPICS

The topics we will focus on during each session will include identifying and moving through difficult emotions (stress, overwhelm, anxiety), connection and vulnerability, building trust, relationship building, and developing self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-confidence, self-worth, mindfulness, and emotional awareness.

PEER SUPPORT

Research shows that peer support is one of the more valuable ways to feel recognized, heard and instill feelings that you are not alone. These peer-group sessions will allow you to work on and expand the skills presented during the educational sessions with women who are in similar situations as yourself. The sister support sessions meet every other week (alternating with the educational part) and will consist of 2-4 women from each group.
